I am talking about CONFIDENCE and TRUST. The Word of God says in Psalm 40:4, “Blessed in the man who makes the Lord his trust, who does not look to the proud, to those who turn aside to false gods.” In whom or in what do you put your trust? Are you trusting your imperfect mind and deceitful heart…or someone elses? Do you trust in quick fixes and schemes to get ahead or to feel better? What about your pocketbook? Do you trust your money more than you trust your Maker? There is no surety in those things. Even your money says “In God We Trust”, not “In this Twenty we Trust, or “In Nickels and Dimes we Trust”… There is no hope of victory in those things. Trust in the Word of God. Have confidence that not only will God not fail, he cannot fail. He is the only sure thing!
The Psalms for this week are: 23, 40, 91, 119:11, 121, and 127. Pick one or two passages to meditate on this week; you will be blessed.
Remember the Word of God in Psalm 91:9-10, “If you make the Most High your dwelling- even the Lord, who is my refuge – then no harm will befall you, no disaster will come near your tent.” It does not matter what people are saying about you. It doesn’t matter how bleak the future might seem from where you stand. God can see farther. Trust the word of God that says he promised to give you a hope and future, NOT to harm you. Jeremiah 29:11. If what is going on around you seems out of control, it is not God. The God I serve and speak of, is a God of order, not chaos. As long as there are people, there will always be liars, cheaters, and thieves…trouble; that is the working of the enemy. Just as God uses people to accomplish his purpose, so likewise the enemy. You MUST know whom you trust and in whom you have confidence. You MUST know who will pick you up every time you fall. You MUST know that no matter how scared you are, or how trapped you feel, you can rest in the shelter of the Most High God. By trusting in him, and being confident of your safety and security, you are at the same time pledging your devotion to him. For you devotion, God promises to never leave you or forsake you; and men and women do from time to time.
This Psalm series is a weekly deposit, but you will only get out, what you put in. Just having scripture will not help you. Read the Word daily, memorize scripture, and study the promises of God. In doing this, you are hiding the Word in your heart so when times of trouble come, you only need to go as far as your heart to make a withdrawal from the deposits you already made.
Trust God, have confidence that he is who he says he is, and will do what he said he will do. Your faith in him will bring about a spiritual change in your life.
Be blessed, and be safe on this Independence Day!
