“ The law of the Lord is perfect…the statutes of the Lord are trustworthy…the precepts of the Lord are right…the commands of the Lord are radiant…the fear of the Lord is pure…the ordinances of the Lord are sure and altogether righteous.” Psalm 19: 7-9
What do you think Jesus would say if he were here today, listening to us talk and lament about our lives? As we talk about current and world affairs, we are often prone to ask, what do we do, where do we go…? I suspect that in those moments, the Lord is saying…”Oh, my goodness will help you.” “Oh, my goodness will teach you.” OMG! God’s goodness is the only sure thing. God’s goodness is the only thing that can take us from death into life eternal in Heaven. God’s goodness is our saving grace. So, when God says, Oh my goodness – OMG! It is not an exclamation of surprise or horror, it is the simple answer to our prayers.
The Psalms for this week: Psalm1, Psalm 19, Psalm, 24, Psalm 133, Psalm 136, Psalm 139
Read and rehearse these Psalms for more evidence of the goodness of the Lord. How can we not want to seek to serve a God, who says in writing, that we are fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:13)? We don’t have to worry about what other people think of us. The God who knows our words before we speak them, who is able to slay giants, move mountains, part the sea, and work a host of miracles in our lives, thinks we too are not just good, but wonderful!
The goodness of God surrounds us every day from sparing us traffic challenges, extending a deadline for a report we struggled with, removing life-threatening illnesses from our bodies, restoring relationships, bringing order to chaotic circumstances… Add your own accounts to how good God has been good in your life; I bet you can think of at least 5 right now
Write the ways God has been good in your life, or the life of someone else and remember to give thanks for those things. At the end of the day you might just hear God say, “OMG, my goodness has become apparent, and they remembered me!”
Be good, be careful, and be a blessing to someone this week by sharing the goodness of the Lord!
