Praise Him; Praise Him, All Ye Little Children…!
…God is love, God is love. Remember that song from ages ago? It just came to mind as I was typing. There are so many praise songs learned as children, and then…we seem to forget the innocence of praising God, which is an act of worship. This week is the wrap up of my journey through some of the Psalms. We are ending similarly to how we started…with praise!
This week’s Psalms: Psalm8, Psalm 97, Psalm 103, Psalm 145, and Psalm 150.
- Because it Glorifies God – Psalm 50:23
- Because of God’s goodness – Psalm 107:21
- Because it is good – Psalm 92
- Because his worthy! II Samuel 2:4 ; Psalm 18:3
But the one I want to stress right now is #3, because it is good, and good for us. Praise gives glory to God and opens us up to a deeper union with him. It turns our attention off of our problems and on the nature and character of God himself. As we focus our minds on God and proclaim his goodness, we reflect His glory back to him. The results can bring peace, contentment, and life transformation.
Praise helps restore us to a relationship with God because God actually dwells in our praises (Psalm 22:3). As we draw near to him in praise, he draws nearer to us (James 4:8) and who wouldn’t want to be closer to a father who has done, and given so much? On the other hand, failure to praise God will set us out of fellowship with God and outside his divine protection (I Samuel 2:27-32).
Live a life of praise! O children of God!
Commit your life to Christ and with the confession of your mouth, declare that “Jesus is Lord!”
Confess any known sin and ask God to search your heart. Then, receive His forgiveness.
Praise him through your circumstances! No matter what you are going through, God is still worthy of your praise. If you can read this, it is because of God…praise him for the ability to read or hear the words if they are being read to you. Bless Jesus! You have so many reasons to praise God and there are so many ways to praise him. You can seek God and his Kingdom first through prayer, sing, you can dance, help a neighbor, get to work on time every day, hold your tongue when you feel like hurling the perfect comeback, offer forgiveness and let go of your grudge…so many ways… What did you do today that was an act of praise?
Happy praising! See you next week!
