I’ve blogged about this before, but as we near the Christmas holiday now, it bears repeating. As the expression goes, “You’ve got to give to receive,” the same applies to the things of God. God did not put us here to consume all things; to be hoarders of his blessings. We are meant to hold things for only a short time, and then pass them on to someone else; we a blessed to be a blessing. This holiday season as you think about giving and receiving, think about all God has given you, and what you plan to give away… and how you plan to give it. The word of God says that if you give little, you will get little. Give willingly and bountifully and you will reap the same. Don’t hold back a blessing for someone because you don’t know what God is going to do about your rent, or your school fees. If your heart desires to give, then give, God will supply all of your needs according to his riches in glory (Philippians 4:19); trust him.
Dress yourself in an attitude of greatness, gratitude and thanksgiving…
6 But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully. 7) Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.
…And the result will be prosperity…
8) And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work: 9) (As it is written, He hath dispersed abroad; he hath given to the poor: his righteousness remaineth for ever. 10) Now he that ministereth seed to the sower both minister bread for your food, and multiply your seed sown, and increase the fruits of your righteousness;)
11) Being enriched in every thing to all bountifulness, which causeth through us thanksgiving to God.
