How many times have you said those words, and then… gone back on your word? The reality of being human is that we are not perfect, We say things without thinking, we say things we don’t always mean, and none of us has kept every promise made.
To please people do you make promises not knowing if you have the ability to deliver? Perhaps you changed your mind about the situation, or circumstances prevented you from keeping your word. Whatever your own reason; know that there is one who will ALWAYS keep his word; God our Father. Mankind will disappoint us over and over, but God is not a man that he should lie, nor the son of man that he should repent [Numbers 23:19]. What God says he will do, he will do.
For those who have been waiting for God to make good on his promises, understand that his timing is not your timing. “With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day.The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.” 2 Peter 3:9. (NIV)
Continue to exercise your faith, even the hard, uncertain times. God is still in the business of working things out for the good of those who love him and are called according to his purpose. God always means what he says. He does not, and has not changed his mind concerning the progress, and prosperity of your life. Take the word of the Lord to heart when he says, “Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away.” (Mark 13:31) If God promised it, he will do it.
God’s word is absolute truth. May you be given grace to always believe his promises.
