HELLO – HI – HOW ARE YOU?- HAVE A NICE DAY! THANK YOU! YOU’RE WELCOME – MY PLEASURE
It is NOT a crime to be the FIRST to be civil, courteous, polite or thoughtful.
How many times do we walk down the street, or just out of our homes and pass someone without saying anything and then mention to someone later that so and so never speaks to you? BE THE FIRST TO SPEAK. Some people honestly believe that they will be in some kind of trouble if they make eye contact with someone on the street and speak to them. The attitude that we are not going to be nice unless or until someone is nice to us, is just an excuse to be rude and impolite. There is no law against niceness. Initiating a pleasant greeting is not a crime – really, you will not die in the presence of the kindhearted, thoughtful, polite, considerate person. True enough, some people are just having a bad day and don’t want to talk, or are deep in thought and don’t really notice us, but as often as you can,BE THE FIRST TO SAY, “HELLO.”
A simple greeting can make all the difference in the world to someone who is thinking good manners don’t exist anymore; BE THE ONE TO PROVE THEM WRONG.
How often have you passed someone on the sidewalk or in the hall and said to yourself, “I’m going to see if s/he speaks to me today,” and you pass each other and neither of you speaks – perhaps the other person was putting you to the same test, it’s possible, right?
BE THE ONE WHO ALWAYS SPEAKS INSTEAD OF THE ONE WHO NEVER SPEAKS. IT’S NOT A CRIME.
Galatians 5:22-23 (NIV)
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.
